Friday Box Office: 'Nutcracker' Bombs, 'Nobody's Fool' Disappoints

In other newbie news that isn’t Bohemian Rhapsody, Walt Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms earned just $5.619 million on Friday. That sets the stage for an over/under $20m opening weekend, which is a grim result for the poorly-reviewed and buzz-free $130m fairy tale adventure. After a few years of mostly successful Walt Disney fairy tale flicks rooted in popular IP and/or generational nostalgia, would audiences show up to a somewhat generic fairy tale adventure just because it came from the Mouse House? Paramount/Viacom Inc.’s Nobody’s Fool earned a meh $4.66 million on its opening day, setting the stage for a $12.39m weekend. And, hey, if you get sold out of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and your kid really wants a ballet movie…?
