Front National leader Marine le Pen, who was beaten in the presidential election’s second round, obtained her first ever seat in parliament and will head a deputation of about six members. Meanwhile the Socialist Party confirmed its predicted decline and its leader stepped down, while the centre-right obtained its lowest number of deputies since 1968. For FN, the answer is a France-first policy and a federal Europe with more control over France’s borders and destiny. If Macron can manage to overcome this resistance and cut those rigidities in the French social and economic system that hampers its development, growth and innovation. But there are high hurdles and he could suffer a political decline nearly as fast as his rise.
