I first became interested in Angola when I read a New Yorker article about Luanda, the capital. Her photographs of the Hotel Panorama in Luanda are currently on view in PANORAMA, an exhibition open through July 13 at Tyburn Gallery in London. “The hotel carries with it the symbolism of the Angolan history and of diasporic transits,” de Miranda told me over email. A desire to capture the ghosts of the city before they disappear led de Miranda to photograph the Hotel Luanda.
