Freight train derailment in Toronto causes diesel fuel leak

Crews were working to contain a diesel fuel leak after a Canadian Pacific Railway train collided with another in the heart of Toronto Sunday morning, causing one of the trains to derail. One locomotive train struck the tail of another train at around 5:20 a.m., CP Railway spokesperson Martin Cej told the Star. Toronto police said that the fuel leak is not a threat to public safety. Cej said “early indications” point to human error as the cause of the collision and subsequent derailment and that equipment failure was not a factor. Bartlett Ave. north of Dupont St. was closed while police and CP investigated the incident.
