A three-member appellate bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha delivered the decision on Monday after a hearing of the state’s petition. The MP turned himself in to court in September last year and was sent to jail. He took the case to the High Court after the trial courts rejected his bail pleas. A High Court bench had granted interim bail to Rana on Apr 13. The case was transferred to the appellate bench and the bail was stayed until May 8, the date of Monday’s hearing.
