Freak storms hitting country more often now


FREAK storms like the one that ravaged several places in Melaka on Tuesday are not just freak but are also getting more common in this country. Their occurrences have been reported without fail every year but in different locations, hence they seem to be freak to any one locality. However, they are known worldwide as mini tornadoes, i.e. Mini tornadoes in this country have resulted in several reported cases of homes having their roofs ripped off and trees toppled on buildings and vehicles. Ten years ago, a short-lived tornado suddenly touched down on a Ramadan bazaar in Melaka, uprooting several tents high into the air.
