A woman who falsely claimed to be a leading transplant surgeon is facing jail after tricking a terminally ill patient into believing that she could be saved. Julie Higgins, 54, pretended to be an oncology specialist at Great Ormond Street Hospital and promised to help Angela Murray, who had an incurable lung condition. Higgins, a self-confessed compulsive liar, promised Mrs Murray, 59, that she would find a donor and carry out a double lung transplant. She even claimed to have flown to Nice after the terrorist attack last July in search of a suitable organ. Mrs Murray, who has since died, suffered from pulmonary hypertension and a rare condition called dry fibrosis of the lung.
