Blond, released on August 20 on Apple Music, is an embodiment of what was foreshadowed by his prototypical dreamlike and sometimes psychedelic sounds from his now-classic mixtapes. After years of waiting, Ocean first released the first single of his sophomore album, Nikes, and announced a few pop-up store locations for his Boys Don’t Cry zine that accompanies the new audio material on his website. RelatedThen, the last surprise of the night was an unexpected announcement from Beats1, an Apple Music Broadcast Radio program. On Apple Music and in the Boys Don’t Cry zine, the album is referred to as ‘Blonde’, but the actual album cover says Blond. Ocean hadn’t released an album since Channel Orange in 2012, and fans have been trying to decipher his vague clues, much to Twitter’s dislike.
