BORMIO, Italy — Franjo von Allmen, the new face of these Olympic Games, tilted his head back and looked straight up to a blur of slate-gray clouds carpeting the sky. Von Allmen heard his name called and lifted his gaze, delivering two fist pumps to echo through the Italian Alps. As he exited the base of the mountain, von Allmen was thinking about making the podium rather than winning gold. A year ago at this time, von Allmen had one career World Cup victory to his name. Von Allmen is only the third men’s alpine skier to win three events at one Winter Olympics.
