Fourth carrier to create 700 jobs

The new airline, yet to be named, will be Malaysia Aviation Group’s (MAG) fourth passenger airline after MAS, Firefly and MASwings. MAS group managing director and chief executive officer Peter Bellew said the new project would create 700 jobs in Malaysia as the airline would need 150 pilots, 350 cabin crew members as well as maintenance and support staff. The airline will not be owned by MAG for the long term as it is open for sale to interested buyers. “We’ll give birth to it (new airline) under MAG but it does not necessarily mean that it’ll forever be owned by MAS. “We have had inquiries from interested investors overseas and within Malaysia,” said Bellew.
