Four people were killed and three others were injured as Vijaywada-bound vehicles were involved in two accidents on the Chennai-Kolkata highway in Prakasam district on Sunday. Pilgrimage to Tirumala turned fatal as four persons, including three from a family hailing from Meduru, near Vuyyuru, were killed and two others were injured when their car dashed against a milk tanker at Gullapalli, near Madipadu. The first accident occurred when the car driver lost control of his vehicle while the occupants were returning to Vuyyuru from Tirumala, police said. Forty-year-old Panduranga Rao from Meduru village near Vuyyuru, his son Shyam Satyasagar (10) and brother-in-law Narasimha Rao (33) and the car driver V.Sambi Reddy died on the spot as the front portion of the car got smashed. They were rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences here for treatment.
