The accident took place on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Madhabpur Upazila around 8am on Tuesday, said Inspector (investigation) Md Jasim Uddin Khandakar of Shayestaganj Highway Police Station. Police are yet to identify the dead. The police and fire service officers rescued the injured and rushed them to hospital. Seven of the injured have been identified as Forhad Mian, 40, Hafizur Rahman, 32, Bulbul Ahmed, 36, Sarwar Jahan, 30, Jamal Uddin, 32, Rabiul Islam, 28, and Kasem Mian, 18. Inspector Jasim said a Sylhet-bound bus of Shyamoli Paribahan carrying passengers from Dhaka collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction, killing three people on the spot while one died later in hospital.
