In the Late Cretaceous, elasmosaurids grew as large as 11.5–12 m (38–39 ft), such as Styxosaurus, Albertonectes, and Thalassomedon. 'It's definitely an indication that toward the end of the Cretaceous, plesiosaurs managed to expand their feeding repertoire,' she said. The research is published in Cretaceous Research.
