If a written assurance regarding the removal of VC is not published after the meeting, tougher programs would be implemented in the future, the students said. Hasinur Rahman, registrar of the university said, following the decision of the negotiation meeting, the university halls and canteen were opened from Saturday night. However, students later demanded a written assurance, instead of verbal, about removal of the VC and declared on Sunday they would continue with their agitation program. On March 27, BU students began demonstrations demanding the VC’s removal, following an “offensive comment” he made at a program in the campus, marking the 49th Independence Day. On March 29, the VC expressed regret about his comment, which was rejected by the students and they continued their protest programs to press home their demand for removal of the VC from his post.
