The former chief executive of Virginia Regional Transit, a nonprofit that provides transportation services throughout Northern Virginia, was sentenced Friday to 18 months in prison for his role in a bribery scheme. He was sentenced to 12 months supervised probation and is required to pay $516,000 in restitution. In 2011, McGregor also was questioned about donations made to a political campaign using money from VRT. When asked by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors about the contributions, he said he thought he was supporting a charity golf tournament, not a political campaign.
