Former SAPP deputy president quits party, citing differences of opinion

KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) deputy president Datuk Melanie Chia says she quit the party after it joined Perikatan Nasional. Chia cited differences of opinion as the main reasons that prompted her resignation. “I will not be joining any political party, but I will continue to do my part for the common good of Sabah and her people. We need to come out of this grieving situation and become more mature and exercise our democratic right properly. “Giving up that democratic right is tantamount to accepting a subservient position which will be even more hopeless, ” added Chia.
