The 90-year-old World War 11 veteran Alberto Galarpe a former city councilor urged the youth to always show their love for the country. Galarpe served as staff sergeant under the Malakas Division from January 9, 1945, to September 26, 1945. The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest award given to civilians by the United States Congress.
