Former Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was arrested on Thursday by the National Accountability Board n a multi-billion-rupee case related to the award of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import contract in the country, a media report said. Abbasi was arrested by a 12-member NAB team when he was on his way to attend a press conference, accompanied by PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal, Dawn reported. The case pertains to a case of LNG import contract when Abbasi was the minister of petroleum and natural resources. TheDawn report said that the NAB had summoned Abbasi in the LNG case but he did not appear before the bureau. In April, the government had imposed a travel ban on Abbasi, former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, and five other persons in the same case.
