The Liverpool-born 32-year-old was a five-times national champion as an amateur and in 2012 became Team GB’s first female Olympic boxer when she beat the American, Quanitta Underwood in the first bout of the women’s competition at the London Olympics. Jonas fell short of the medal podium then, losing to eventual gold medallist, Katie Taylor, in a lightweight quarter-final bout that many remember as one of the tournament’s highlights.
