Shelley was one of seven players cut by the Phoenix Mercury at the end of the preseason. Phoenix opens the regular season on Tuesday at Las Vegas. About one month ago, Shelley was the 29th overall pick of the WNBA draft and chosen by Phoenix with the fifth pick of the final round. The Mercury released both of their recent draft picks, Shelley and UCLA guard Charisma Osborne.
