MAKKAH (Bernama): Former Malaysian ambassador to France Datuk Ibrahim Abdullah (pic) has been appointed Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Special Envoy for Peace in Southern Philippines. The appointment, approved by the Islamic Summit Conference (OIC Summit), was included in the Final Communique Saturday (June 1) chaired by Saudi Arabia's monarch, King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is also Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The statement also said Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had briefed Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the proceedings, side meetings and outcome of the OIC Summit. Wan Azizah was accompanied by Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and ministry officials. The statement added that all OIC member states attended the summit except Syria.
