Former LA Times Sports Columnist TJ Simers Dies


Former Los Angeles Times sports columnist T.J. Simers died Sunday at age 73, according to a report. Simers worked for the paper from 1990 to 2013, and later won a discrimination lawsuit against the company, and said that he had suffered a minor stroke. After leaving the Times, Simers went to work for the Orange County Register. In 2000, he was named California Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He appeared on the debut episode of ESPN’s Around the Horn in 2002.
