An Ontario police watchdog has laid its first disciplinary charges in a nearly two-year investigation into alleged corruption and abuse of power by commanding officers in Durham Regional Police Service. Former Durham police Deputy Chief Uday Jaswal is facing two counts of discreditable conduct under the Police Services Act, the Star has confirmed with multiple sources. We will answer these allegations in due course.”Jaswal is now a deputy chief for Ottawa police, where he is suspended while facing unrelated disciplinary charges laid by the OCPC. Whiteway is a veteran officer whose mother was the first female deputy chief in Durham.
