Former Shamokin Councilman Running AgainSHAMOKIN – A former Shamokin City Councilman who’s been at odds with the Northumberland County District Attorney over his involvement on Shamokin City Council…is again seeking a term in office. Joe Leschinskie announced Monday he’s seeking re-election, saying he’s looking to ‘take back ‘the remaining two years left’ on his former term. That term is being filled by Tonya Leschinskie who is not seeking re-election. Joe Leschinskie says Shamokin residents were ‘robbed’ of their votes by county DA Tony Matulewicz, when he claimed Leschinskie was ineligible to run due to his criminal record. Northumberland County President Judge Charles Saylor then overturned it in a court ruling last January.
