In July 2013, Independent TV reporter Imtiaz Momin Sony and cameraman Mohsin Mukul were beaten up at Rony’s office in Meherba Plaza of Topkhana Road. The court rejected Rony’s plea to let him off from the charges and fixed Oct 20 for witness’ depositions. The TV channel filed a case the same day and in June 2014, police pressed charges on him. The journalists went to his office to collect news for the television channel’s crime show ‘Talash’. The case’s proceedings had been halted due to a revision suit filed with the Dhaka metropolitan sessions judge’s court.
