Airport officials said Tanuja Sankhe, who is from Palghar in Maharashtra, was seen picking a maroon purse from the handbag of co-passenger Shikha Roychowdhury at the X-ray counter on Tuesday afternoon. Airport officials said Shikha was carrying a white handbag inside which she had put the purse for the X-ray scan. Shikha realised that her purse was missing when she opened her handbag to be sure everything was in place. When CISF personnel checked the CCTV footage, they found Tanuja allegedly picking the purse. Tanuja at first claimed that the maroon purse was hers, officials said.
