KANGAR: Residents living in low-lying areas in Perlis have been urged to prepare for evacuation following continuous rainfall in the state since yesterday evening, which saw the water level at the Timah Tasoh Dam surpass the danger level. A spokesman for the Perlis Malaysia Civil Defence Force said as at 11am today, the Perlis Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) Telemetry System showed that the Timah Tasoh water level has surpassed its danger level of 29.6m. He said the continuous downpour also caused flash floods in several parts of the state, especially low-lying areas such as Kampung Bakau, Kampung Sempering and Beseri. "All departments and agencies concerned are monitoring the situation as the rain is expected to continue the whole day," he said.
