Flights in and out of Wellington are expected to be disrupted till mid-afternoon, Air New Zealand says, while high winds and heavy downpours put a halt to the start of summer. High winds forced the early cancellation of several Air New Zealand domestic flights on Tuesday morning, with Wellington travellers asked to consider deferring non-urgent travel. Stuff Wellington flights are being cancelled and ferry services restricted as strong winds hit the region. She was hoping to get on a 6pm flight to Wellington after her previous flights were cancelled. The air moving across the country was expected to keep coming from the northwest all the way through to Sunday or Monday.
