A driver fleeing police in Lower Hutt smashed a power pole down before taking off on foot. Shortly after they found the car, which had hit a power pole as the driver attempted to turn right off Oxford Tce. The power pole was down and the driver and occupants had run away. Shortly before 12.30am on Sunday, the driver of a Nissan Pulsar refused to stop for police and sped away down Oxford Tce, Lower Hutt, a statement from police said.
