SUNGAI PETANI: Floods are affecting up to 45 villages in the Kuala Muda District here. Kuala Muda district disaster management committee secretariat coordinator Kapten (Civil Defence) Azahar Ahmad said, "As of 8am on Sunday, 12 sub-districts with 45 villages were affected by flash floods due to continuous rain. Ten flood relief centres have been opened since 9pm Saturday (Nov 4)," said Kpt Azahar. "The most serious affected is the Semeling sub-district, where 15 villages are submerged by floods," said Kpt Azahar. He added that various government agencies in the area are helping with relief efforts as the rain continues to fall.
