It’s easy to draw the parallels between Derek Ryan and Luke Philp. Philp just finished up his career with the University of Alberta Golden Bears last week, after all, and then signed a contract with the Calgary Flames on Tuesday afternoon. Ryan is a graduate of the Golden Bears program, too, and he’s been making himself invaluable to the first-place Flames this season. “When I was (with the Golden Bears), getting an NHL contract was unheard-of,” Ryan said Wednesday.
