Man airlifted to hospital after avalanche at SilverStar Mountain Resort

A man had to be airlifted off SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon, B.C., after an avalanche. In a statement, the resort said the incident occurred just after 12 p.m. PT Wednesday on a double-black-diamond run located on SilverStar's Putnam Creek. Putnam Creek is described by the resort as on the mountain's "backside." A double-black-diamond run is considered extremely difficult — for experts only. The resort said it has closed Putnam Creek as a result of the incident and its runs will be closed until further notice.
