Flagstaff History: Man saved from freezing to death


125 YEARS AGOWilliam Frederick met with a ticklish experience one night last week. He was traveling a cow trail until he came to the railroad track. His horse refused to budge as freight train approached and the train ran it down. He had laid down in the snow to die when he was found by track walker Thomas Walsh and it is to that gentleman’s heroism that the young man owes his life. He lifted the nearly unconscious man upon his back and struggled on with his burden to town, a distance of five miles.
