Five people, including two 10-year-old boys, have been missing after a small boat carrying them sank in the Padma River during a severe storm in Rajshahi. Police identified the missing as part-time boatmen Sarowar Hossain Rafik, 45, Robin, 28, Asadul, 45; and madrasa students Tamim, 10, and Ahad, 10. Boaria police station’s chief Shahad Hossain said the boat was returning to Kuthibari from a Padma shoal on Sunday evening with seven people on board. A search party has been looking for the missing since last night. “We could not find the people or the boat after nearly four hours of search last night,” he said.
