Christchurch Transport Operations Centre said a power pole had been taken out on the corner of Brougham and Waltham St after the crash. Five people are injured, including one critically, after a car smashed into a pole in central Christchurch overnight. Emergency services were called to the intersection of Brougham St and Waltham Rd about 3.30am on Friday. A Christchurch Transport Operations Centre statement said there was no right turn from Waltham Rd onto Brougham St, because a power pole had to be replaced. Traffic could still travel north or south on Waltham Rd.
