Five people, including three Rohingya refugees, were detained by a team of Rapid Action Battalion on Wednesday from Dhaka’s Demra area. The three Rohingyas – Setara Begum, 25, her daughter Shafiqua, 6, and Jaheda Begum, 16 – were attempting to flee the country with fake passports. The two other detainees – Raju Mollah, 45, and Mokhlesur Rahman, 65 – were middlemen, helping the Rohingyas to flee the country. Acting on a tip-off, the RAB 10 team detained the refugees from Mokhlesur’s house in Demra around 6am, a press from the elite force said. Raju Mollah was trying to send Salimullah’s sister and wife to Malaysia by making them fake Bangladeshi passports.
