The first call came from a person who lives in the Selby Street, Pōkeno, home. Five fire engines were needed to fight a blaze which took hold in a Franklin home. The first call to the Selby Street, Pōkeno, fire came from a person who lived there, around 1.20pm on Tuesday. Several other calls followed and the house was ablaze by the time crews got there, Fire and Emergency northern communications shift manager Daniel Nicholson said. Five fire engines were sent and the fire was out by 2pm.
