After six years in New Zealand, I finally recently made it over to perhaps the most classic of summer spots – Waiheke Island. The much-anticipated Paparoa Track is slated to open this December, with bookings already throughout much of 2020. The Paparoa Track crosses the Paparoa Range on the wild west coast of the South Island, near Punakaiki. Finally, while there is no shortage of amazing regions and chunks of state highways to road trip around New Zealand this summer, it's hard to beat sub-tropical Northland.
