Five Maoists, two women and three men, are suspected to have been killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel in Odisha’s Koraput district on May 8 afternoon. According to Koraput Superintendent of Police Kanwar Vishal Singh, the encounter occurred in the Padiua police station area. “Details are awaited as the security personnel involved in this operation had not yet returned from the remote hilly jungle region,” he said. Sources said the encounter took place inside Kituakanti forest under Hatibari panchayat of Nandapur block. Till now there was no report of any injury to any security personnel involved in the operation.
