Speakers at a high level policy workshop urged for greater support for fisheries and aquaculture sector in Bangladesh. Addressing the workshop held in Dhaka on Sunday, the speakers discussed the growth of fisheries and aquaculture sector and stressed the importance of this sector in achieving of SDGs. To utilise the potential of the aquaculture sector, the speakers demanded for its infrastructural development, enhancing the credit facilities, and providing quality feed to small shrimp farmers. The participants of workshop emphasised the need for increased public sector investment in the sector to mainstream it in the policy-making and budgetary process. Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Kazi M Aminul Islam was the chief guest on the occasion.
