Foy said he had fielded interest from people wanting to get to Kaikoura to support the local economy. German tourists Florian​ Oechsle​ and Michaela​ Blum​ were first back on the water on Friday. "They [Kaikoura residents] live off tourist things and we want to support them a little bit, they need us."
