While buildings are evacuated and thousands of car parks remain off limits, there is optimism among Wellington's retail sector that it will stand up to the challenge. PETER DRURY/FAIRFAX NZ First Retail Group managing director Chris Wilkinson says certainty is needed around the status of closed Wellington buildings as the holiday period approaches. Ross Giblin Wellington Chamber of Commerce chief executive John Milford says plans are in place to support retailers following Monday's earthquake. "The [Wellington city] council has a very strong resilience programme and how quickly Wellington bounced back is testament to that."
