In the first three months of 2018, about 330,000 Canadians said they'd tried cannabis for the first time. Cannabis use increased among males from 16 per cent last year to 22 per cent so far this year. Crépault said doctors and medical researchers are looking for any long-term increases in the number of people using cannabis, and more importantly, people using cannabis more frequently or more heavily or "even worse, starting to use it earlier in life." Overall, 15 per cent of cannabis users with a valid driver's license reported driving within two hours of consuming.
