TAKING THE lead in starting international flight operations from Chandigarh, Air India (AI) officials Thursday announced that its first international flight from Chandigarh airport to Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) would take off on September 15. “Our first International flight being operated by Air India Express with brand new Boeing 737 – 800 Aircraft from Chandigarh to Sharjah will start from September 15,” said M R Jindal, station manager Air India in Chandigarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal, known as ‘Chandigarh International Airport, located in Mohali on September 11, 2015. Jindal added, “Departure from Sharjah for the flight is 1245 hours and arrival at Chandigarh will be 1715 hours. This comes after IndiGo Airlines, in July, launched booking for its ‘first’ direct non-stop daily flight from Chandigarh (IXC) to Dubai (DXB) from September 26.
