Firewood in hot demand as icy weather sets inDAVID WALKER/FAIRFAX NZ City Firewood owner John Harris says a combination of earlier cold weather and higher than average rainfall is making it hard for firewood suppliers to keep up with demand. Firewood suppliers say they are struggling to keep up with demand as they battle to dry wood in the wet, cold weather. Harris said it took longer to dry wood in the kilns during wet weather. Styx firewood owner David Richards said demand at present was double the same time last year. Davies Firewood owner Alex Davies said it was much busier than normal.
