Firefighters called after hedge cuttings mysteriously catch fireA Tuatapere farmer called firefighters to his farm on Christmas Day after he came home to discover his hedge trimmings were mysteriously on fire. A fire communications spokesman said firefighters from Tuatapere were called to the fire on Groveburn Rd. The farmer who called the fire in said he had been out all day and came home to find two 50 metre sections of hedge cuttings on fire, the spokesman said. Fire crews from Tuatapere and Orepuki responded to the call and a digger was being used to shift some of the burning material, the spokesman said. The cause of the fire was yet to be determined, the spokesman said.
