Hunter, who is 11 years old, said he never expected the police to show up at his door on Christmas Day. Constable David McLardy, of Invercargill, said when he saw the letter from Hunter pinned to the notice board in the station, he thought they could make his wish happen. "It was a pretty simple gesture to make a dream come true." McLardy said the young boy reminded him of himself, as he wanted to to be a cop when he was young too, he said.
