A scrub fire at the Hope Saddle look out was contained by ground crew and a helicopter on Saturday afternoon. Emergency services have extinguished a scrub fire near Hope Saddle, south of Richmond. The fire, measuring 100 metres by 20m, started in the Tasman district about 4.30pm on Saturday, on State Highway 6 near Hope Saddle. He said the ground crew put out 95 per cent of the fire by 5pm while the Reid Helicopters Nelson dropped water buckets to extinguish the final five per cent. The cause was unknown.
