A stretch of Wellington Avenue was closed to traffic as fire crews battled a blaze at a one-and-half-storey home on Wellington near Agnes Street early Thursday afternoon. A city spokesperson said the fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. Police warned bystanders to avoid the area around the Wellington Avenue fire because of heavy smoke. Firefighters were called to fires at a garage on Arlington Street near Ellice Avenue around 1:08 p.m., and a garage on Redwood Avenue near Arlington Street just before 3:30 p.m. The city spokesperson said there were no injuries reported in any of the fires, and all are being investigated.
