Five wardens' houses were razed in a morning fire at Meru GK Prison on Monday. Reports indicated the incident at about 10am resulted from the explosion of a gas cylinder in one of the houses. Officers helped put out the fire before it spread to other houses, some of which are made of timber. Some property was salvaged and no one was injured in the incident. But an officer who declined to be named said he lost everything he owned.
